Tomorrow, I Pitch…

In the words of Freddie Mercury,

"Dahling, I'm doing everything with everybody."

And yet…

I stopped.

For What?

For Jesus.

This is just ridiculous.

At least I and several others thought it was.

“You have the world at your fingertips,” she had said with blue eyes that were wicked with celebration, “don’t drop it.”

But, to them, to the world, to her…I dropped it when I followed Jesus.

But, to me, I gained the world. I gained freedom…and I did it by following the bible.

Now I’ve really gone nuts.

I still cry when I hear Freddie Mercury sing, “We are the Champions.” I feel his emotion deep in my bones, but…now that I’m not doing everything with everybody?

Well, I truly am the champion. Will you dare to join me? More to come…

Share Your Story…Don’t Waste Pain!

I understand fear. I understand pretending to be someone you’re not. I understand wanting to forget the past and move forward.

I understand.

But…what if? What if your pain isn’t only for YOU to learn from? What if your pain can prevent others from going down the dark path you know so well?

I’ve been sharing my bad trip story from 21 years ago. Why? Because I am a living story that there is a good God in heaven that cares. He cares about addicts. He cares about rebellious teenagers. He cares about your pain.

When you see me day to day, in my right mind, caring for my children and living a “normal life,” it is consistent evidence that Jesus is alive…but, if I don’t share my story, I just look like another elitist.

Will you share your pain, too? Forget the naysayers. Forget those who may judge you. Focus on those that need the freedom you have.

And…if you don’t have freedom yet? Keep tuning into my story. I think I’ve found the answer…

Your Friend,

I Made You Something!

Last week the first video of, “I Went Crazy on Acid,” entered the YouTube world. On Wednesday several of you joined me live on our FB Page for, “Fear You Don’t Own Me!” We declared together that the proverbial lion was no longer chasing us. Instead we decided to hold onto Isaiah 41:10 together. Have you remembered to say this verse when your heart is pounding, your hands are sweaty and your mind is anxious? To help you overcome, I made you a business card sized printable of “My Personal Isaiah 41:10.” Friends, let’s carry this in our purses, pockets or as a screen shot on our phones to help us overcome any and all irrational fears! That dirty little gnat!

Meet me on YouTube Tuesday, July 9th for Part 2 of, “I Went Crazy on Acid.” Then head over to FB Land for “What’s Up Wednesday?” We’ll continue our series on overcoming fear. If you’re loving the content of “Your Friend, Dawn,” please like, comment, subscribe, or follow on videos, Instagram, and Facebook. This helps get our message of Jesus’s friendship out to more people.

You can also become a Patron on Patreon for exclusive content for donations of any size. I’m currently working on something special…so be on the lookout!

Dang, friend, you can even join my e-mail list. I promise not to spam, ya!

Success! You're on the list.

Your Friend,

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

“Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” was my favorite song in the 7th grade even though it was 1994 and Mariah Carey’s, “Hero,” was #1.

I first heard this classic Beatle’s tune in my mom’s $1,000 car whose muffler blew smoke like a smoke stack when we road through our town.

The slow, hypnotic melody of the verses followed by the pulse quickening drum leading into the chorus enchanted me.  I was a sober version of the girl looking into the marmalade sky when my mom burst my bubble, “This song is about drugs, Dawn!”

I thought for sure it was about the innocence of a Pippi Longstocking imagination who grew tangerine trees on balconies for an escape from the sadness.  For the little life of me, I could not imagine that those four straight laced looking guys who sang, “I wanna hold your hand” in suits and mop tops would have written a song purely about drugs.  Surely, this Lucy lady was an upstanding gal, a daughter of the Queen of England!

I still sang at the top of my lungs even though mom had spelled out that it meant LSD or lysergic acid diethyl-amide.  Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.  LSD.  Get it?  Acid.  Drugs.  Hallucinogenics.

Little did we all know that when I sang, “Picture yourself on a train in a station with plasticine porters with looking glass ties, suddenly someone is there at the turnstile…” that in just 4 short years, I would become the “girl with kaleidoscope eyes.”

Your Friend,

P.S.  Check out Your Friend, Dawn on YouTube, Wednesday 7/3/19 for the first of four videos, “I Went Crazy on Acid.”

Your Friend, Dawn

As I looked out over America, I asked myself a question.

“What voice is missing?”

I saw influential women shouting without compassion to pregnant women, “Don’t kill your baby.” I saw them standing up for the unborn they couldn’t see, but not the woman in front of their eyes.

I saw influential women demanding, “My body my choice, ” ignoring the devastating emotional pain abortion causes women.

I saw influential men pointing bony fingers at the throats of those who don’t know Jesus demanding them to walk the straight and narrow without the power of the Holy Spirit.

I saw influential men with Reverend before their name molesting boys in their congregations.

I saw influential women standing up for perverted men because they fit their political agenda.

I saw influential men and women make fun of people who are different than them, kick people when they’re down and then shove more money in their own greedy pockets.

Finally, I said, “Enough is enough! Where are the influential men and women who are passionate about Truth and Love? Where are the influential women who honor their bodies and help their sisters with pregnancies they didn’t expect? Where are the Reverends that stand up to the perverted bullies? Where are the Reverends that refuse to be hypocrites…and where are the influencers that will lead others whose hearts cry for Bible Truth with Love?”

I want to be a new voice.

I want to be that voice that says, “God loves you and your unborn baby…let me help you get through this.”

A voice that says, “Put your…back in your pants and get your hands off of God’s creation!”

A voice that doesn’t pretend that everything is ok.

A voice that hurts when you hurt and cries when you cry and laughs hard until we both pee our pants.

A new voice. Can we do this together? We need to. We must. I know I’m not alone.
